Claude Motion: How to Use It, Access, Prompts & Export

Learn how to use Claude Motion, check plan access, and export MP4. Try a complete fictional-data example, adapt three prompts, and troubleshoot missing access.

Claude Motion turns your reports, charts and product explanations into short, editable animations. You describe what to explain, Claude writes the animation as code, and you can revise the result or export an MP4. As of October 10, 2026, the official feature is in beta on Claude Team and Enterprise plans. Official getting-started guide

A useful example is a quarterly update: instead of presenting a static revenue chart, you ask Claude to reveal the figures in sequence and explain the change. The output uses your text, charts, shapes and images. It does not generate realistic footage or people with a video-generation model.

Last checked October 10, 2026. This guide covers Anthropic’s official Claude Motion. Instructions are based on its public documentation, not a Kavello hands-on test. The prompts and storyboard below are suggested starting points, not tested outputs. Kavello is independent of Anthropic.

What is Claude Motion?

Claude Motion is an animation artifact inside Claude. It is designed to explain material you already have: a report, a chart, a set of instructions or a product walkthrough. Anthropic announced it on October 8, 2026, alongside Claude Dashboards. See the official announcement and video demonstration.

Because the animation is built as code, you can ask for a specific revision, such as changing one number or slowing a scene. The intended result is a short visual explanation you can edit and export.

Your starting material A suitable animation task
Quarterly report Explain one change using a chart and a few labels
Pricing table Reveal plan differences one at a time
Product setup notes Walk through the steps a new customer needs
Presentation chart Animate the sequence in which an audience sees the data

Choose one message before generating. A 30-second animation about why revenue changed has a clearer job than an animation covering every table in a long report.

Who can use Claude Motion, and is it free?

Use this table to check your workspace before following the tutorial. Official access requirements

Account or workspace Current official availability
Team Beta; enabled by default, subject to organization settings
Enterprise Beta; an owner must enable it in Organization settings → Artifacts
Free, Pro or Max Not listed for the official Motion beta

Motion counts toward the plan’s usage limits. Anthropic says longer or more complex animations consume more usage than a typical message. The Motion guide does not specify a fixed price per video or a guaranteed number of exports. Check Claude’s current plan pricing separately from the feature’s access requirements.

Do not assume that another artifact being available on Free also makes Motion available there. The launch announcement gives different availability rules to different features.

How to use Claude Motion

1. Open Motion in an eligible workspace

In a Claude conversation, choose Output → Motion. You can also open Artifacts, select a Motion template and describe the animation. The official guide also supports asking for an animation directly in chat.

2. Attach the material and specify the audience

Provide the report, data or images the animation should use. State who will watch it, where it will play and the approximate duration. Name the one conclusion the audience should remember.

For example, a board presentation might need a restrained chart with readable figures. Customer onboarding might need visible step numbers and short instructions. Those requirements are more actionable than asking for an “amazing animation.”

3. Review the draft against the source

Check the numbers, units, dates and wording before adjusting the style. For charts, verify that labels and axis ranges preserve the meaning of your data. Watch whether each scene stays visible long enough to read.

4. Ask for a focused change

Try a request such as: “Keep the chart values unchanged. Hold the final comparison for three seconds longer and remove the extra headline.” You can also make adjustments in the editor. Review the result after each change.

5. Export or share

Choose Export → MP4 to download the animation. Animations are saved in the Artifacts tab and start private to you. Use the Share controls for sharing, subject to your organization’s permissions. Official creation, editing and export instructions

A complete Claude Motion example: a quarterly update

You can copy the material and prompt below without preparing a separate report. All figures are fictional teaching data. The storyboard is a proposed plan, not a recording of Claude Motion output.

Copy this source brief

Fictional company: Northstar Studio
Metric: quarterly revenue in USD
Q2 2026: $80,000
Q3 2026: $100,000
Change: +$20,000, or +25% relative to Q2
Cause: not established by the supplied data
Audience: employees at a quarterly meeting
Message: revenue increased; the cause needs further analysis

The percentage is (100,000 - 80,000) / 80,000 × 100 = 25%. Revenue alone does not establish profit, customer growth or the cause of the increase.

Paste this prompt with the brief

Create an approximately 30-second Motion animation using only the Northstar Studio brief above. Use a light background, dark labels and one accent color. Open with “Quarterly revenue: Q2 to Q3 2026.” Show two bars with a shared zero baseline: Q2 at $80,000 and Q3 at $100,000. Make the second bar 1.25 times the height of the first. Then reveal “+$20,000 / +25%.” End with “Revenue increased. The cause needs further analysis.” Label the piece “Fictional example.” Keep labels readable, introduce one idea per scene, and do not add a cause, forecast, profit figure or customer count. Keep this version to text, shapes and the chart.

Use this storyboard to review the draft

Time What appears Acceptance check
0–5 seconds Quarterly revenue; Q2 to Q3 2026 Period and USD context are clear
5–15 seconds Q2 $80,000, then Q3 $100,000 Shared zero baseline; second bar is 1.25× as tall
15–24 seconds +$20,000 / +25% Both values match the brief
24–30 seconds Revenue increased; cause needs analysis No invented explanation; readable final hold

Before exporting, pause on the comparison and check the bar heights as well as the labels. Then watch without pausing: can you read every number? The fictional-data label should remain visible throughout.

If the values are right but the chart is misleading, try this revision:

Keep the labels and values unchanged. Make both bars start at zero on the same scale, with Q3 exactly 1.25 times Q2’s height. Remove any sentence that explains why revenue grew. Hold the final message for six seconds.

This gives you a repeatable check: the source figures, visual proportions and final claim must agree. Rendering speed and output quality still require a real run in your workspace.

Two more prompts for your own material

Pricing comparison

Animate the attached pricing table for a sales presentation. Introduce the plans one at a time, then show them together. Keep currencies, billing periods, included allowances and footnotes unchanged. Highlight differences without declaring a best plan. Hold the final comparison long enough to read. Use simple text and shapes.

Product onboarding

Turn these setup notes and supplied screenshots into a short onboarding animation for first-time users. Show one action per scene with a numbered instruction. Preserve the exact button labels from the screenshots. Do not add product features or interface states that are not in the source. Finish with the documented next step.

Unlike the worked example, these two prompts need your own source material. Review any result against that material before sharing it.

Why is Claude Motion not showing up?

Start with the documented access conditions:

  1. Check your current workspace against the access table above. Make sure you have selected the intended organization rather than your personal workspace.
  2. Check organization controls. An owner can enable or disable Motion under Organization settings → Artifacts. Enterprise owners can also restrict access to groups through custom roles.
  3. Check the documented entry points. Look in Output → Motion or the Motion templates in Artifacts.
  4. If those conditions are satisfied, contact your workspace owner or Claude support. The access rules alone cannot diagnose an account-specific failure.

Installing a third-party animation Skill in Claude Code does not enable Anthropic’s built-in Motion feature. A separate workflow may create animations, but it has its own installation, costs and limitations.

Claude Motion, Claude Code Skills and AI video generators

These workflows serve different tasks. The shared word “video” can hide the difference.

Workflow What you ask it to do What to evaluate
Official Claude Motion Animate your report, chart or product explanation inside Claude Source accuracy, readability, editing and export
Claude Code or Codex with animation tools Write animation code using a separately installed workflow Setup, tool dependencies, rendering and maintenance
AI video generation Generate a visual clip from a prompt or reference image Visual quality, subject consistency and available controls

Anthropic explicitly says Motion does not use a video-generation model to create realistic footage or people. Its announcement also describes handing animations to other editing and video tools for further work. Official capabilities and partner workflow

Need a product-image clip for your video?

A presentation can also need a visual shot of a product, separate from its charts. For that task, open Kavello’s image-to-video generator:

  1. Sign in and upload your product image using the attachment control.
  2. Describe the intended movement, for example: “Slow camera push toward the product. Keep the background still.” This is a prompt suggestion, not a guarantee of preservation or motion accuracy.
  3. Choose an available model and review its settings and the displayed credit cost before generating.
  4. Inspect the result for changes to the product, packaging or text before using it in your video.

Kavello does not provide access to official Claude Motion or turn a report into an editable data animation. Use this workflow when you need an image-based visual clip.

Frequently asked questions

Is Claude Motion the same as claudemotion.design?

No. This article concerns Anthropic’s built-in feature. The separate claudemotion.design website describes itself as independently operated and says it works through the user’s Claude Code or Codex. Check which product a tutorial or subscription offer refers to.

Is 30 seconds the maximum duration?

The official guide uses a 30-second explainer as an example. It does not publish a maximum duration on that page. Treat 30 seconds as a useful brief, not a documented hard limit.
